Lorenzino, from Verona in Italy, is a researcher in the field of Interoperability and Spatial Data Infrastructures.
He has a PhD examining the semantic interoperability between geographic web services, from the University of Trento, an MSc also from Trento, and a BEng from the Turin Polytechnic.
Lorenzino is now working at the JRC as a post-doc researcher . Working in the INSPIRE Action of the SDI Unit, he undertakes research to support the development of the European Spatial Data Infrastructure foreseen by the INSPIRE directive, focusing on the interoperability of spatial data and services.
He previously worked in the FP6 EU-funded OpenKnowledge project that investigated the dynamic and semantic integration of components and services in open, peer-to-peer (P2P) systems.
Prior to joining the JRC, Lorenzino worked for thirteen years at the Autonomous Province of Trento (PAT), as a GIS systems developer and manager. During his permanence at PAT, he also joined the Italian geographic national committees of CPSG and SINA.
His previous work has also included software design in the field of real time embedded systems, closed loop systems and PID controllers in distributed and centralized environments.
Lorenzino's research interests include semantic interoperability and Spatial Data Infrastructures, GIS management, P2P architectures for emergency response and semantic web issues.
