and Satellite and Space Communications Technical Committees of IEEE

Sponsored by University of Trento, WOMEN project and Alcatel Italia

Greetings from the General Chair

On behalf of the organizing and steering committees, it is my pleasure to invite you to the 11th International Workshop on Computer-Aided Modeling, Analysis and Design of Communication Links and Networks, which will be held in Trento, Italy, in June 8-9, 2006.

The workshop has a long and important history, bringing together the scientific community working on all the aspects related to modeling and design of tlc networks. It is held once every two years, often in cooperation with flagship IEEE Communication Society conferences (Int.l Conference on Communications, Global Telecommunication Conference). CAMAD'04 was held in conjunction with Globecom2004 in Dallas, TX, on Nov.29th, 2004.

Starting from this year, we decided to restore CAMAD'06 to the traditional stand-alone event it used to be in the past, and we selected the week just before ICC 2006 (Instanbul, Turkey) in order to favour researchers already on their way to the ComSoc flagship conference.

The technical program is organized into 4 technical sessions, where 19 high-quality papers were selected on 40 submitted, and some special sessions on hot topics in network design. Moreover, we'll have the honor of hosting Prof. Imrich Chlamtac for the keynote speech at the opening of the workshop. Finally, the program includes a meeting of the IEEE ComSoc Technical Committee on Communication Systems Integration and Modeling, where the CAMAD Best Paper Award will be presented.

Last, but not least, the workshop is intended as a place where research can meet and discuss, but also know each other better, and to this aim we organized a tour of downtown Trento and ancient Roman ruins that will ultimately lead us to the social dinner in the evening of June 8th.

Capital of Trentino, not far from the Dolomites and the numerous lakes that can be found near by, Trento is a city of art that has a strong Renaissance mark, which characterises it for its colours, its buildings and make it unique in the entire Alpine arc.

For those of your willing to know more about Trento or visit the region as well as for any accompanying person which may travel with you, we'll organize a desk at the workshop registration on June 8th in the morning where people from the local tourist office will be available to provide you all the information you require.

I sincerely hope your stay in Trento will be fruiful from the scientific point of view as pleasant for tourism.

We look forward to meeting you all in Trento!

Sincerely,

Fabrizio Granelli
